Resort Review: Thunderbird Resort and Casino
We celebrated our ทางเข้ายูฟ่า 4th and 10th wedding anniversaries at the Thunderbird Resort and Casino (Cape Polo) in La Union San Fernando. Actually we have been following this place since our 1st wedding anniversary, hindi lang sya matuloy tuloy talaga for various reasons (1st anniversary - pregnant with Rhian, 2nd anniversary - Rhian sick and 3rd anniversary - pregnant with Rhian ), until we attended the travel show at SMX last February, and the resort was offering almost half of the prices posted in 2016, valid until September of this year. So when kahit na wala pa kaming is ready for na pera, nagpabook na kami agad just pay 1,000 Philippine pesos for a discount. Well, I believe this is everyone's dream and ultimate destination, a vacation spot in Santorini, Philippines. It's one of the most famous wedding destinations (John Estrada and Pricilla Meirelles) and the location where "No Other Woman" was filmed.
We decided to book a deluxe room for our anniversary. I called the reservation line and blocked our chosen date, which was July 23-25. Since this will be our first outing as a family of four, our first trip north with the kids, our first drive off-road for about 6.5 hours, we make sure it's going to be an unforgettable, yes this Another milestone for us as a family! Well done darling!
I will write about how our 3 days / 2 nights went very well in another post. Now I'm going to talk about how beautiful this place is and I agree with all the reviews that this resort is one of the luxury resorts in the Philippines with great facilities, restaurants, manicured golf course and very courteous staff.
This was our first visit to this resort so my husband and I found the resort using the Waze app. Easy to find as it's close to the town of San Fernando La Union and there are signs along the way, thank you so much for having a good internet connection (thanks Smart!). We arrived at the resort after 2pm and we were all tired from the 6.5 hour drive, so the complimentary cold longan juice refreshed our bodies. Nice, Ivan the receptionist assisted us immediately and gave us our pass and breakfast voucher. Our check-in was easy, we were greeted in the lobby with stunning views of the pool area and the sea, and the blue sofas invited us to sit and relax.

Now let's go to our room. We were then taken to the deluxe ocean room, I believe this part of the resort has only recently opened. They don't have a lift and our room was on the second floor in the north wing, but the staff were friendly and helped us with our luggage. When we entered the room, we were surprised how big it was. The room is very spacious and can accommodate up to 4 adults and 2 children to move around in a comfortable, modern and stylish environment with a private balcony overlooking the expansive West Philippine Sea. All rooms are designed for guest comfort and pleasure.

The room has a king size bed with a perfect mattress and a soft duvet. This is the best bed I have ever experienced! promise! ang lambot nya kaya super duper at the highest level around 9pm, lights off na kami. I said to my husband na pag lipat namin sa bahay namin, gusto ko ganong mattress na bibilhin namin. Ha ha.
It also includes an LCD TV with home theater surround system, mini fridge, electronic safe, coffee and tea making facilities, complimentary mineral water, and free Wi-Fi in every room. To be fair, the connection doesn't work. The lampshade acts as additional lighting for the room and is actually tuwang tuwa si Rhian sa kaka on and off ng mga lamps. Ha ha. They also have a table where Rhian hangs out most of the time and happily sya na nakikita nya sarili nya sa Salamin. #GGSS
